GLASGOW is set to enjoy the brightest and warmest day in the whole of Scotland today.

The Met Office has forecast a dry and bright day for most of the country - with the best of the sunshine set to hit Glasgow and Lanarkshire this afternoon.

Things will be cloudier across Ayrshire and western Argyll where some patchy rain may develop.

There is also the chance of a few isolated light late afternoon showers bubbling up elsewhere.

However, Glasgow will bask in temperatures as high as 13°C throughout the afternoon period.

This evening will also be dry and clear for most of the city and its surrounding areas.

Cloud is expected to spread from the northeast during the night with patchy rain and drizzle across eastern areas by dawn. There will be gentle easterly breezes, with the mercury set to drop to a chilly 2°C as the day draws to an end.
