A NANDO’S restaurant which recently opened in Glasgow will be the second in the city to offer home deliveries.

The Portuguese chicken place on Waterloo Street, which officially launched on January 23, has been granted an on and off sales licence which will include a take-away service via Deliveroo and Just Eat.

This will also mean that customers will be able to purchase alcohol to drink at home.

The site, which has room for 112 diners, will also be allowed to sell alcohol from 11am until 12am every day.

The restaurant is one of eight across Glasgow and currently operates from 11am until 9pm Monday to Sunday.

The application was discussed by members of Glasgow City Council’s licensing board on Friday.

Representing the food chain, Jack Cummings, of Miller Samuel Hill Brown Solicitors, said: “Nando’s has been operating in Glasgow since 2006.

“This branch, which actually runs from 5 Waterloo Street and not 1 Waterloo Street, has been operating since January 23.

“It is a welcome addition to the city centre and there will be a home delivery service.

“The other Nando’s in Glasgow do not offer this deal.

“It will not be the same as an average off sales premise as a bottle of wine can cost between £15 and £19 at least.”

Councillor Alex Wilson asked: “Will Nando’s have drivers who make these deliveries?”

Mr Cummings replied: “Customers will be able to order via Deliveroo and the Just Eat website. Drivers will work for them.”

Councillor Margaret Morgan said: “Can you order anything from the menu?”

Mr Cummings said: “I believe so.”

The second application to extend the alcohol licence within the restaurant was then discussed.

Mr Cummings added: “An occasional licence was granted from January 23 and acted as a back stop.

“The applicant is now looking to sell alcohol from Monday to Sunday from 11am until 12am.

Following a discussion members of the board agreed to grant both applications.
