Residents in Glasgow face freezing conditions and the risk of dangerous ice after the Met Office issued a weather warning on Wednesday. 

The prediction, which comes into play at 10pm on Wednesday, is set to see ice across Glasgow and the central belt into Thursday. 

The Met Office have said Glasgow is to see "icy patches developing with wintry showers also affecting some areas". 

Weather bosses have warned of "some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces" as part of the yellow warning. 

The Met Office also said there would probably be "some ice on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths". 

Guidance states that during yellow warnings "the weather will cause some low level impacts, including some disruption to travel in a few places".

Many people may be able to continue with their daily routine, but there will be some that will be directly impacted.

Other yellow warnings are issued when the weather could bring much more severe impacts to the majority of people but the certainty of those impacts occurring is much lower.

The severity of the current warning is still unclear. 

Northern parts of the central belt and the Highlands are also to expect ice, with an increased risk of snow in these parts.
