BOSSES at First Bus have announced the festive service levels which will operate across Glasgow in the next two weeks.

Starting on Christmas Eve on Monday a reduced timetable will be in place across the city as the festive season gets fully underway.

The majority of buses will use a Saturday timetable on December 24, with the M1, M2, M4, 14, 29, 49, 59, 93, 94, 128, 129, 205, 251 and 299 services which will operate a normal weekday timetable.

Additional peak time services will also be in place for some journeys.

Most services will begin to withdraw at around 9pm on Christmas Eve, meaning night services will not operate.

On Christmas Day there will be no bus services operating on Glasgow's streets, while a Sunday service will be in place on Boxing Day. However, the 500 to and from Glasgow Airport will begin operation at 5am in both directions.

Thursday, December 27, and Friday, December 28, will see First return to the same timetable as Christmas Eve. The only exception to this is that night services will operate on the latter.

On Saturday, December 29, and Sunday, December 30, regular service for those days of the week will be in place.

Those travelling on Hogmanay will see the same service as on Christmas Eve in place, with a limited service and no night buses as coverage winds down from 9pm.

The first day of 2019 will see only one service run, the 500, on a 20-30 minute basis while January 2 will see Sunday timetables will operate on all services.

As people return to work on Thursday and Friday of that week, the same Christmas Eve services will be in place before normal service resumes from Saturday, January 5. Night buses will be in place on January 4 and 5.
