TRIBUTES were paid to a man stabbed to death in Wishaw as officers launched a murder investigation.

Kevin Mcguire died following what police are calling a "targeted attack" in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The 51-year-old was rushed by ambulance staff to Wishaw General Hospital with multiple stab wounds but did not survive.

Relatives have taken to social media to share their disgust at the attacks.

Kevin's niece Lou posted: "Anyone who knew my Uncle Kev knows he would never harm a fly - justice will served and these monsters will be caught. How people like this can sleep at night is beyond me."

Friends also paid their respects to what they called a "placid" and "genuine" guy.

Linzi Craig posted: "Absolutely gutted to hear about this he was such a nice guy. Gutted to hear this. So sad."

Libby Rose Gillies added: "RIP Kev. You did not deserve this . Such a placid, quiet guy."

Lorraine McLachlan said: "Such a nice man taken to soon my thoughts are with Shona and the rest of the family."

Mr McGuire was reportedly found by his partner, Shona, outside the house they shared in Morar Street.

It has been reported that he was found in a pool of blood after being attacked by four men who emerged from a black Nissan X-Trail.

Support is being provided for the family by specially trained family liaison officers.

Meanwhile, police have appealed for information regarding the incident, which they hope could help the murder investigation.

Detective Inspector Carol Craig said: "This was a violent attack which cost Mr McGuire his life.

"This does not appear to be a random incident and I am content that he Mr McGuire was the intended victim and this was indeed a targeted attack.

"Nonetheless I am appealing for anyone who was in the area and has any information that will help us identify the group of men responsible."
