Let’s take a trip down memory lane to one of Glasgow’s busiest (and longest) streets, Argyle Street.
Argyle Street is the longest street in Glasgow at 2.1 miles, running all the way from Trongate to Glasgow’s West End.

It was once home to the famous Britannia Music Hall, or The Britannia Panopticon (pictured above), built in 1876. It is still used as a performance space to this day and the building now A-listed.
The Hielanman's Umbrella, aka the Glasgow Central Station bridge, is situated over Argyle Street, leading you into Glasgow's main train station. The beautiful glass walled railway bridge is a great tourist attraction.
We have searched through our archive for old photographs of Glasgow's longest street and we hope you enjoy them as much as we do.
