(GLASGOW ROAD, BARRHEAD) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION TO USE OF ROAD) ORDER 2020
On the 16 March 2020 the Council made the above named Order under, Section 14 of the RoadTraffic Regulation Act 1984.The Order was promoted to restrict vehicular access on a section of the A736 Glasgow Road, Barrhead to facilitate the safe operation of essential resurfacing works.
Due to the implementation of Government restrictions in response to the Covid-19 pandemic the works were postponed but are now rescheduled to take place from Monday 20 July until Sunday 2 August 2020 and will be carried out over a number of phases.
Phases 1 & 2 of the works will carried out under temporary traffic signals with a convoy system in operation between a point approximately 250 metres south of its junction with the A726 Hurlet Road/ Nitshill Road southwards to its junction with Salterland Road.
Phase 3 of the works, anticipated to be fromTuesday 28 July to Sunday 2 August, will require Glasgow Road to be closed to vehicular traffic at its junction with the A726 Hurlet Road/ Nitshill Road southwards for approximately 250 metres.
The diversion routes associated with the closure of Glasgow Road during Phase 3 will be:-
Hurlet Road - Grahamston Road - Paisley Road - Cross Arthurlie Street - Main Street - Glasgow Road and vice versa or
Nitshill Road - Parkhouse Road - Darnley Road - Glasgow Road and
Vehicular access to properties within the extents of the restriction may be permitted by the contractor on site only when it is possible to do so in conjunction with the works going on at the time. Access for emergency vehicles
attending an incident and pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.
