This is the moment that Celtic legend Scott Brown was skinned as an Ayr United women's star scored a long-range screamer.

The Ayr boss was taking part in the club's 'Play on the Park' match on Saturday afternoon.

With their Championship campaign wrapped up on Friday evening, the club allowed the opportunity for fans and others connected to the club to get a run out on the Somerset Park pitch.

Both Brown and his assistant Steven Whittaker played a part in the match.

And it was former Hoops and Scotland captain Broony who was left chasing shadows in this particular moment of the game, as Ayr's Clare Docherty skipped past the 38-year-old and unleashed a wicked strike from distance into the net.

Chuffed with her piece of skill and outrageous strike, Docherty - who is Ayr's head of women's academy - wrote on X: "Not every day you get to skin Scott Brown and score."

In the aftermath of the clip, she embraced Brown who appeared to see the bright side of what had just happened.

Her posts has gathered a significant amount of attention online, with well over 2,000 likes on the social media site, and hundreds of re-posts.

Fans were quick to give their reaction to the clip too.

One wrote: "Can I change my vote for goal of the season? Brilliant strike."

Another said: "He let you score."

A third wrote: "Bald Scott Brown two foots you into oblivion, games gone."

Another added: "Sent him for a hotdog."

And a fifth said: "He's raging haha."

Ayr finished seventh in the Championship this season.Ā

The curtain came down on their campaign on Friday night, as Brown's side played out an entertaining 3-3 draw with fellow mid-table side Dunfermline.

Brown took over the Honest Men in January as he replaced Lee Bullen with the club in relegation trouble.

He managed to guide them to safety, with Arbroath automatically relegated, and Inverness cosigned to the play-off.Ā

Brown will be hoping to bolster his squad during the summer as he and Ayr looks to make a better fist of things next term, with a possible charge for promotion the obvious aim.
