EXPERTS are warning that the price of a fish supper is to skyrocket this year.
Due to a cut in haddock and cod, supplies have already started to fall and wholesale prices rise by around 11.5 per cent.
And this trend is set to continue as the 2018 quotas to stop overfishing kick in.
Most of the cod and haddock sold in British chip shops comes from Norway and Russia whose quotas have been cut.
Fisherman have been ordered to bring in 13 per cent less cod and 14 per cent less haddock.
Kristine Pettersen, of the Norwegian Seafood Council, predicts prices to skyrocket for the Brit favourite.
She said: "We see no reason why prices shouldn’t increase further.”
Scottish salmon prices are also up 7 per cent amid growing demand form the Far East.
