A huge emergency response was spotted on a busy street after a man was brutally stabbed on Easter Sunday.

The incident took place on Aitken Street in Airdrie shortly after 6pm on Sunday, March 31.

999 crews rushed to the serious assault.

Following that, a 60-year-old man was rushed to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

During the incident, multiple ambulance crews and police vehicles were pictured in the area.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Around 6pm on Sunday, March 31, 2024, police were called to the Aitken Street area of Airdrie, following the serious assault of a 60-year-old man.

"The man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.

"He has since been discharged and enquiries into the incident are ongoing.”
