A CITY charity making a difference to people living tough lives could receive a cash boost this winter thanks to the owners of the Glasgow Times.
Our parent company’s charitable arm The Gannett Foundation is looking for readers to nominate their favourite good causes.
Perhaps you have been given invaluable support to help you through a difficult time, or maybe you are employed by a charity and know the dedication and hard work that goes on behind the scenes?
We’d love to hear your nominations for who you think would most benefit from a £1000 boost.

Glasgow Times Editor Stacey Mullen said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to give a Glasgow charity a helping hand this winter.
“Everyone knows how hard charities work in our communities, and the last few years have been particularly challenging. We’d love to hear your nominations, and we are looking forward to being able to support a good cause making a difference in the city.”
The charities with the highest number of nominations will be reviewed by the editor, who will award the £1000 to the one which, in her view, offers the greatest benefit to the community.
This is the latest cash-for-charity initative run by the Gannett Foundation. Last year, Action on Asbestos, which has been providing free practical and emotional support to those affected by mesothelioma, lung cancer and other asbestos and work-related diseases and injuries for more than 35 years, received a donation of around £1200.
Previously, Maggie’s Glasgow, which supports people with cancer and their families, Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland, and animal charity Beloved Rabbits also received cash from the initiative. Charities which have received money from our Cash for Charities initiative in the past are not eligible to receive the £1000 this year.
This year, The Gannett Foundation will donate £26,000 to charities across the country.
To make your nomination now, simply complete the form which will be printed in the Glasgow Times every day from October 16 to November 30.
