A Tiktok star is desperate to help his mum’s Alzheimer’s with a special gesture.

We previously reported how Graeme Sutherland went viral after showing the realities of living with the condition by documenting his mother Linda on social media.

The 31-year-old, from Erskine, is now encouraging big-hearted Scots to walk for the people they love and raise vital funds for dementia by taking part in Scotland’s Memory Walk.

He is Alzheimer Scotland’s social media ambassador and is passionate about raising awareness of dementia and the importance of supporting family carers.

Graeme and his mum became an inspiration to many by creating a conversation online about the devastating impacts of the illness.

Alzheimer's disease is a brain disorder that slowly destroys memory and thinking skills and, eventually, the ability to carry out the simplest tasks.

In most people with the disease — those with the late-onset type symptoms first appear in their mid-60s.

Graeme is a full-time carer for his mother along with his twin sister Kirstin, who is also an NHS nurse.

He said: “I’m hoping as many people as possible take part in Alzheimer Scotland’s Memory Walk weekend.

“I’ll be walking with my mum, my sister and a few of the rest of the family too.

“We’ll be making some really special memories with my mum while we walk through some of her favourite places, and we’ll be raising funds to support all those other families who live with dementia every single day.

“Alzheimer Scotland have helped us so much with support and respite. I’m happy to get the chance to give something back.”

Alzheimer Scotland’s Memory Walk is ‘Your Walk, Your Way’ meaning participants can choose a route that matters to them, take the time to share memories with friends and family, and celebrate someone they love.
