UPDATE: Glasgow man feared missing while in Gran Canaria found safe and well. Read more here

An urgent online appeal has been launched to try and trace a vulnerable Glasgow man who has gone missing in Gran Canaria.

Jon Montgomery was reportedly last seen just outside Playa del Ingles on the Spanish island at 2am on Wednesday.

His brother, Stu has since launched an online appeal in a bid to find Jon, who suffers from mental health issues but has never gone missing before.

In a Facebook post he said: "Jon hasn't been seen or been in contact with anyone since 2am on Wednesday morning. Last reported sighting was just outside playa del ingles resort in Gran Canaria.

"It's out with his character not to be in touch with his mum or anyone else for that matter. Jon also suffers from depression and other mental health issues making his disappearance even more concerning."

Glasgow Times:

Jon was last seen wearing a white vest top and shorts and has tattoos down both arms. He was carrying a black Fila bag and a small suitcase.

Both the UK and Spanish police allegedly have the young man as a missing person.

The family are desperate for anyone who may have seen him to get in touch with himself or the police.

The Facebook post has been shared more than 1,000 times and flooded with comments.

One friend wrote: "Hope Jon is found safe and well , thoughts with all the family."

Another added: "Hopefully he will get in touch soon! Thinking of you all."
