A GLASGOW brewery is giving away thousands of guitars to coincide with TRNSMT festival.
West will be gifting festivalgoers at Glasgow Green, just a few steps away from the independent brewery.
But like all good things in life, there is a catch.
WEST founder, Bavarian-born Petra Wetzel, said: “TRNSMT takes place on the doorstep of our award-winning brewery on Glasgow Green.
"So we thought it would be a nice gesture, as a brewer that prides itself on having a Glaswegian heart and a German head, to offer festival-goers an incredible 10,000 free guitars.
“After all, it was the most famous Glaswegian of them all – The Big Yin, Billy Connolly – who once famously sang, ‘Hey Jimmy, gonna gi' us Ten Guitars?’ Well we’re going 9,990 better and giving away 10,000 guitars!”
The brewer is to dot a number of guitar stands around the main thoroughfares leading to the music festival and inviting budding guitar heroes to take their pick of their favoured axe: the only catch is that we’re talking air guitar.
Petra explained: “Festival-goers can enter our Guitar Challenge by posting a photo or video of themselves or their best friends performing their best air guitar poses to https://www.facebook.com/westbeer/ or https://twitter.com/Westbeer and the winning entry will win a real Stratocaster guitar as well as a tour of our award-winning brewery together with merchandise and our WEST gift pack – so get practicing your favourite air guitar riffs now!”
