MOTORISTS are warned to expect seven overnight road closures on the M74.

As part of Transport Scotland’s road management programme, Scotland TranServ will resurface one kilometre of the M74 Southbound at Junction 3.

The overnight closures will start at 8pm on Wednesday, July 11 and finish at 6am on Wednesday, July 18.

Alan Murray, Scotland TranServ’s Principal Roads Design Engineer said: “We’re looking to minimise disruption for the thousands of commuters and freight drivers using this important route south.

"Working overnight will allow us to deliver this programme with the greatest efficiency.

"It will be necessary to implement overnight diversions over the seven nights that this project is carried out.

“We have been working closely with local authorities and key stakeholders to schedule the works for the lowest possible impact.

"This has included working around a multitude of events being held in and around Glasgow throughout the summer.”

Further diversion information is also available on the Scotland TranServ website.

Scotland TranServ’s Delivery Manager, Russell Thomson added: “This is a significant programme of work in a busy stretch of our network.

"We’re looking to reduce the impact on commuters and the local community by carrying out these works through the night.

"Because of the location of the deepest section of resurfacing we need to also close the slip roads, but can keep works in between the slips on the other four nights to further reduce disruption to those driving overnight.”

Motorists are advised to plan their journeys in advance.
