A RUTHERGLEN trampoline centre is "coming to the rescue" of Air Space staff and customers, as the East Kilbride venue announced its closure.

Flip Out is in the process of offering job opportunities to 10 former Air Space staff and has claimed to have rescued 10 children’s parties, with many more families in contact.

George Gallacher, general manager of Flip Out Glasgow said: “We’ve been working closely with Air Space head office to help them re-accommodate their children’s party bookings.

"Any customer that has a party booked with Air Space should contact us on 0141 406 1600 and we’ll do our absolute best to fit you in, at the same price.”

At 63,000 sq ft the arena is one of the largest trampoline parks in the world and is home to a variety of trampoline-based activities including the country’s first Ninja Warrior course, an under-seven’s trampoline area, a football pitch, parkour space and multi-level soft play.

The arena also has a café and games area, featuring a virtual reality arcade.

We revealed earlier today how the company had taken the "difficult decision" to close after going into administration.

In a company statement, the firm said: "We regret to inform customers that we have been forced to close our Air Space Glasgow trampoline park.

"We acquired Air Space Glasgow in 2017. Despite encouraging early performance, the competitive local leisure markets caused a downturn in trading. We were unable to rejuvenate our product and as a result our trading performance has become unsustainable and we have no choice but to close and place the respective sites into administration.

"Decisions relating to the Air Space Glasgow park will now be taken by the administrator and we cannot comment on individual cases."

The statement added: "This has been a very difficult decision as we have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the Glasgow community, and we leave behind an excellent team of leisure professionals who we wish the very best success.

"Oxygen Freejumping is now under new ownership and we look forward to continuing to grow and support more and more people to get active and get Freejumping."
