Outlander star Sam Heughan has suggested Scots EAT midges after an Oban hotel announced plans to make burgers out of them.
David Keat, who owns the Brander Lodge Hotel near Oban, said he would extract the bugs from the hotel's midge exterminator machines to create a tasty meal.
The burgers would be dipped in a coat of midges, like breadcrumbs, alongwith a secret ingredient.

Despite starting off a joke, the meal has now gained a lot of attraction - even reaching the Outlander star.

Tweeting about the move, he said: "It’s about time we start to eat THEM.”
Fans were left shocked by the suggestion while some said they had already tried to strange concoction.

Micaela Walker, replied: "What do you mean START! - take it you have not done much cooking at a Scottish campsite! midge porridge is a specialty, but I have also managed midge omelet and midge fried with bacon on occasion."
Diane Serralta wrote: "SAM, Oh god I can’t."
