INTERNET sensation Denise Ferrie has avoided jail after repeatedly punching her own mum in the face - the woman whose funeral she sang at.

The 34-year-old had her sentence deferred for four months in order to prove to a sheriff she can behave.

If she does not, the case will be “revisited,” she has been told, reports The Scottish Sun.

As previously reported by the Evening Times, Ferrie pleaded guilty to the shocking attack on her now late mum, Elizabeth McGeough.

Ferrie quickly shot to fame after paying a unique tribute to her mum at her graveside at Coltswood Cemetery in Coatbridge.

A video saw the Coatbridge woman bellowing out Millie Small’s 1965 hit ‘My Boy Lollipop’ in a distinctively Scottish style.

In the clip - viewed millions of times - she can be heard saying: “That was her song wae ma da.”

Since shooting to local fame, Ferrie has performed at several local pubs and clubs.
