A HOTELIER has accused “vexatious” community councillors of “hounding” his business.

Carnmunnock Community Council has been regularly complaining and objecting to licenses for Carnbooth House Hotel.

The latest has seen CCC threaten to take Glasgow City Council to court about a decision to approve a development in the hotel grounds.

James Montgomery has heavily criticised the actions of certain members of CCC that he calls a “little hardcore who have always complained”.

He said: “Now they’re talking about taking Glasgow City Council to court, but they don’t even have the funds to put the Christmas lights on in the village.”

CCC is angry because the hotel was given permission to build a block of 32 flats on protected greenbelt land during an appeal on May 29.

Members contend they have grounds for legal action as they were not informed of the meeting date within the statutory two weeks.

The council has admitted to this failing which saw the community council receive notification of the hearing on the day it was happening.

As such, they were unable to submit a representation to the appeal at the Planning Local Review Committee in the city chambers.

“The Local Planning Review process was flawed,” said community councillor Robert Cochrane.

However, CCC has been criticised for not even lodging an objection to the appeal because they have been so vehemently against it.

Six objections were received to the very original proposal which was rejected but not again for the appeal.

Mr Montgomery said: “It’s sour grapes — there are 1066 people in Carmunnock and there are only six with a problem.

“You can see from their minutes they have been aware of the fact there would be an appeal since April, but didn’t even put an objection in.”
