GALE force winds of up to 60 miles per hour are expected to batter the country this week.
A yellow weather warning has been issued from 3am to 3pm on Thursday.
The Met Office warning reads: “A spell of very windy weather is expected on Thursday with gusts of 50 to 60 mph likely.
“There is a small chance of longer journey times or cancellations as road, rail, air and ferry services are affected.
“There is a slight chance of some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs. There is a slight chance that power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage.
“There is a small chance that injuries and danger to life could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties.”
A spell of heavy rain is also due to arrive, with a 95 per cent chance of a downpour.
The bad weather is an end to the glorious sunshine the city has been enjoying for the last fortnight.
However, it's predicted the heat could make a return later on this summer, with highs of up to 33C predicted for July in to August.
