TWO Glasgow men have been arrested amid an HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) investigation into a suspected £12 million VAT fraud.
HMRC officers searched two residential addresses in the city on Thursday, May 10.

Several items - including mobile phones, laptops and computers - were seized from the addresses and two men, aged 60 and 45, have been arrested.
The pair were arrested on suspicion of Value Added Tax (VAT) evasion contrary to Section 72 (1) of the VAT Act (1994).

Joe Hendry, assistant director of the Fraud Investigation Service at HMRC, described how VAT fraud is “not a victimless crime.”
“It deprives us all of money that should be funding our public services,” he added.
He continued: “HMRC will continue to pursue criminals who attack the tax system and we ask anyone with information about suspected VAT fraud to report it to HMRC online or call our fraud hotline on 0800 788 887.”
