A boozed-up mum who kicked a police officer in the testicles has avoided jail after a court heard she lashed out because she was angry at having her trainers removed.

Marion Simms, 45, flew into a drunken rage and attacked Sergeant Ian Standing after she was arrested at her £450,000 home.

Magistrates heard the drunk mum-of-two had been on a "bender and drank copious amounts of alcohol" following the breakdown of her marriage.

Paramedics and police were called to her detached home in the village of Wychbold, Worcs., at 3.15pm on April 19.

She was taken to Worcester Police station but lashed out after officers insisted she remove her trainers for her own safety.

It was then she booted Sgt Standing in the groin, causing him to remain in pain for five hours afterwards.

Glasgow Times:

Simms admitted assaulting a constable in the execution of his duty when she appeared at Worcester Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

She was ordered to pay a total of £350 in fines and costs.

Prosecutor Peter Love told the court: "Her behaviour was volatile. She refused to answer basic questions. She refused to listen to orders from officers.

"At one stage she screamed and tried to take back her trainers which had been taken off her feet and put on the custody desk.

"She was then taken to a cell and put onto a mattress on the floor to be searched by Sgt
Standing but she lashed out with her foot, striking his testicles."

Mr Love said, referring to a statement from Sgt Standing, said he felt "extreme pain" but was able to continue working.

Sgt Standing wrote: "I am writing this statement five hours later and I am still in some discomfort."

Mr Love said Simms did not remember anything but felt shame and guilt and was sorry if she did kick the officer.

Mark Harper, defending, said it was not a sustained attack or a hate crime, while her shoes had already been removed.

He said she was "completely broken" due to coercive abuse from her ex-husband, which has continued through texts and emails, while she has also recently lost her job and is about to lose her home.

The court heard Simms’ ex-husband is threatening to take their two sons aged 15 and 13, to live with him and his new partner in Sweden.

Mr Harper said: “She loves her sons and wants to have contact.

"She is not shying away from anything, she is trying to deal with things."

Last October Simms avoided jail after she bit a paramedic and attacked two police officers after she got drunk because her gym was closed for refurbishment.

A court heard she headbutted an officer after she spent the evening boozing instead of working out.
