SHOCKED residents have described finding human body parts scattered around their street by wild animals.

The grisly discoveries were made as police probe the murder of Glasgow gran Julie Reilly, 47.

One woman told the Daily Record how her daughter found a human hip joint in their garden in Ardsheil Road, Govan, last Friday.

She said: “I went into the garden and saw the police in the drive of a house near us. I was told that part of a leg had been found.

“I decided to have a look around and found a bone in my own garden which looked like a hip joint – it was a human bone.

“There were teeth marks on it as if the foxes had been chewing it.”

The woman’s daughter added: “I went and picked it up.

“There wasn’t any flesh or anything on it but I knew it was a human bone right away – but you don’t want to think it’s part of someone’s body.

“I went and told the police who were at the other house and they sent a forensic team in to search our garden. They were here for two days.

“It looks as if the foxes have carried and scattered the bones around the area, they could be everywhere.

“We asked the police if this was related to the missing woman but they said they couldn’t tell us. It’s horrific. Hopefully the police know who did this and they catch them soon.”

Another resident revealed that a fox was spotted carrying a human hand in its mouth, while another piece of a human body – believed to be a thigh – had already been discovered in the street.

The remains were found just a few hundred yards from a police crime scene in Drumoyne Drive, where another body part – believed to be a torso – has been found.

It’s believed Spanish holidaymakers were staying there when they discovered human remains, sparking the investigation.

On Monday, police revealed a murder investigation was under way after the disappearance of Julie. She lived in nearby Shieldhall Road and was last spotted on CCTV at an Aldi supermarket on Paisley Road West on February 6.

Earlier this month, Julie’s mum Margaret Hanlon, 69, and sister Lynne Bryce, 36, made an emotional plea for her return.

A 41-year-old man was arrested yesterday and was last night charged in connection with Julie’s death. He was due to appear in court today.
