A MINI-heatwave is said to be on its way to Scotland in time for the May Bank Holiday weekend.

Warmer weather is expected from Friday, according to weather forecasters.

The Met Office predicts a chilly but bright start tomorrow, with outbreaks of light and patchy rain coming in from the west.

But there will be sunnier skies in the east, with temperatures possibly reaching 15C in parts of Scotland including Aberdeen and Edinburgh.

The forecast for the rest of the UK is also positive, with highs of 25C forecast south of the border.

Met forecaster Sophie Yeomans said: “There is an area of warm air pushing up from the south which could give warmer weather over the bank holiday weekend.

“Many places in the south of England could see 19C or 20C, most places will be in the low 20s and we could see 25C in London and the south-east.

“Heading into Monday we could see the high 20s.”
