A WOMAN is taking legal action against a beautician, claiming she “looked like Terminator” after an eyelash procedure.

Samantha McAleer says she visited Beauty by Laura ahead of a night out, but was left partially blinded and burned within minutes of the treatment starting.

Mum-of-two Samantha, from Cambuslang, said she had gone to get eyelash extensions at the salon in the Forge Market Village to save time travelling to her usual beautician at home.

The 30-year-old paralegal said: “I was in the Forge and saw the Beauty by Laura salon.

“The price list didn’t say anything about eyelash extensions, so I asked and she said yes but she would check if she had the correct glue.

“She said she was going to use peel glue, and said it just meant the lashes could be removed easily without pulling my actual eyelashes.

“I lay down and she started on my right eye but when they started going on, I said that my eye was really burning.

“The glue felt like it was running down my eye, and I said ‘You need to get this off’.’”

The beautician, according to Samantha, told her she was allergic to the glue but when Samantha tried to see the bottle, she said the beautician wouldn’t let her have it and told her to leave.

She explained: “My eye was like that for weeks, I looked like terminator and it went black.”

“I asked if she had used nail glue, and she told me not to be silly, but she held on to the bottle and wouldn’t let me see it.

She said ‘I’m not going to charge you’ and told me to leave and not come back.

“I told her that she needed to get them off my eyes, and I was screaming in pain, it was horrible.

“I stuck my head under this tiny sink to try and get them off and all round my eye was white and crusty.”

Since the incident in, Samantha has been trying to contact the salon to ask for an explanation, however she is now pursuing legal action against them after claiming she has been ignored.

Her lawyers have also written to the firm and although the mail has been received, they have received no response.

Samantha is being represented by Nicola Thompson at Thompsons Solicitors, who said: “What happened to Samantha was an absolute disgrace and she was extremely fortunate that her eyesight was not permanently affected. We are determined to pursue this matter not just to get Samantha the compensation she deserves but also to make sure that no other member of the public can be harmed by this business.”

When the Evening Times visited the salon, the owner denied all knowledge of the claims or having treated Samantha, but when contacted again she did not provide a response.
